A truly one of a kind hotel in Galle with beautiful views and a serene ambience, the sprawling colonial style residence of Jetwing Era Beach was originally designed by a protégé of Sri Lanka’s renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa. Throughout its expanse – in the architecture and in choice of furniture and fittings, a strong Dutch influence prevails, giving you a glimpse of a historic past.

A recent addition to our fold, Jetwing Era Beach is aptly named after the wondrous sunsets staged by Mother Nature every evening. Sitting just a few feet above sea level at the very edge of a pristine beach, Jetwing Era Beach is placed just right to let you admire the swirling waves of the Indian Ocean up close as they curl against the low wall. A glimmering salt water pool at the very centre of the bungalow divides the property in perfect symmetry with the restaurant and bar on either side.

There are eight spacious bedrooms all with bespoke furniture and every comfort you need to make yourself at home too. The cuisine too is yours to choose – as is when and where you wish to enjoy it. In fact at Jetwing Era Beach you rule the roost – with everything you desire, just as you want it to be.

Location of Jetwing Era Beach - Galle
Perfectly situated on a pristine beach in the South West of the island, Era Beach is one of the most unique beach hotels in Galle. Close to the historic city but also a little away from it in a secluded hamlet this beautiful Dutch style bungalow is built on the beach in Thalpe – a small town that is conveniently close to the Southern hub being just 15 minutes drive away, and yet far enough away to offer you a glimpse of rural village life in Sri Lanka.

It is also just a 5 minute drive from the famous beach of Unawatuna – now the centre of all beachside action on the South coast. The largest city in the South and one of great significance in many ways, Galle is a wonderful blend of culture, history, beauty, tradition and everything else in between. The journey south to Era Beach will give you more than a fair glimpse of life in our tropical island with the vast Indian Ocean rolling beside you all the way, and the rail track weaving along too.

Accommodation at Jetwing Era Beach - Galle
A little hideaway of bliss, Era Beach is a unique refuge of comfort close to the historic city of Galle; a boutique hotel that truly stands apart from the rest. Here, space is yours to claim with all eight bedrooms being considered as suites – each, tastefully designed to exquisite detail, fine furnishings and luxurious bathrooms.

The rooms are located both upstairs and down: two ground floor rooms feature charming private outdoor courtyards. Two more are specially designed to permit easy access for guests with physical disabilities. The remaining four rooms are situated on the first floor and you have two types to choose from: The sea view suites offer expansive vistas of the Indian Ocean and you can enjoy its changing beauty from one dawn to the next if you wish.

The garden view suites are no less spectacular, with lush tropical expanse of the garden to admire from the wide windows. All rooms are gracefully furnished with bespoke furniture and soft colours and every amenity such as hot/cold water, a delightful rain shower, tea and coffee making facility, mini bar are just some things you can take for granted too.

Upstairs Suites
The upstairs suites at Jetwing Era Beach offer some of the most sumptuous accommodation in Galle. A beach hotel that is both cosy and chic, everything from furniture to fittings here is carefully selected to create an ambience of elegance. The suites are spacious, with plenty of room to stretch out and relax.

The soft colours are set off by the warm lighting, blending perfectly with the richly toned bespoke furniture reminiscent of the Dutch era – their antique grandeur contrasting yet complementing the touches of modernity too. You have two views to pick from: the lush hues of a tropical garden, or the turquoise horizons of the vast Indian Ocean. The warm tones of the chosen colours complement the rich bespoke pieces to perfection giving the suites a wonderful ambience of elegance. The wonderfully stylish bathrooms too are havens you may want to linger in for far longer than necessary – the delight of a cool rain shower is an indulgence one should never miss. Two of the suites open out to the lobby and provide easy access to the ground level areas of the bungalow – and are ideal for those who require special mobility support.

One of the most delightfully different restaurants in Galle, dining at Jetwing Era Beach is as an experience as remarkable as the place itself. Here, we refuse to conform to norms – of when, where, how and what you eat that is.

We believe that all these factors should be left at your command. So each meal is a novel experience and one that you can choose to your liking. Therefore, gourmet cuisine is yours to indulge in with every menu being a unique culinary experience. Speciality Chefs with international expertise will create the most delectable choices to suit your demands: Western favourites or Eastern exotics; local legends from age old recipes or haute cuisine. All you need to do is state your preference of the day a little in advance, and our chefs will gladly oblige.

Meals are served at the beautifully furnished main dining room, you can of course opt to pick your own favourite place – outdoors or in. A well stocked bar also ensures that drinks can be called for whenever you fancy too. Champagne at breakfast or a Single Malt at sundown, even a parting nightcap under the stars; just say when.
