Overview of The Other Corner-Habarana
"The Other Corner" is the wild child of Rahula Dassenaieke, a lover of nature in his own rights and a keen photographer. Rahula came up with the concept of “The Other Corner” as a place to relax with the idea of maintaining an unsullied environment for other avian and nature lovers to enjoy what is frequently termed the abundance of nature.
A family man, Rahula is also the managing director of Starron group of companies, which was founded in 1988 to cater to the demand rife at the time, and has since carved a niche for itself in the industry.
Rahula's aspiration with "The Other Corner" is that more people will come to realize the value of the natural world around us and to provide such a place as will in all probability be all too rare in the future, a place of beauty, of peace, of relaxation and an observation point in the evolution of nature.
Hidden away amid the lush dense greenery of Habarana, a place where nature abounds and can still be found in its pristine condition lies a little known lodge quaintly called "The Other Corner".
Situated along the Anuradhapura - Trincomalee/ Polonnaruwa road in the Anuradhapura district, a veritable paradise amid a paradise as a recent visitor termed it, an apt description as many a well known ornithologist and a myriad of botanists are sure to call it after spending a few days in this tranquil setting.
The Other Corner now offers its guests the use of a tranquil pool that is nestled amongst the rustling branches in one of its shaded groves. Close your eyes and relax on a deck chair with a cold long mocktail, or take a dip while you listen to the call of the birds. You are sure to feel your stresses and strains evaporate as you bask in the crystal water after a day of birding or sightseeing. Cooling off from the mid-day sun is now a peaceful pleasure although we suggest a sunrise or sunset dip for a truly natural experience
