Overview
The Colony has a tranquil feel that is instantly inviting. It is elegantly furnished with antiques, paintings and a gentle infusion of colour. The beach directly below the Colony offers safe swimming during peak season only (Dec-March). But just four kms away is the more placid Seenimodara (Sugar Bay), one of the finest crescent-shaped beaches in the island. The owners of The Colony have a ten-acre estate leading off this beach, which guests are welcome to use as a base for swimming and relaxation.

The Colony is a renovated colonial beach house perched above the Indian Ocean to the west of Tangalle, one of the most picturesque sections of the south coast. Tangalle is about two hours beyond the historic city of Galle and is an ideal base to explore the south’s beautiful beaches, abundant wildlife and fascinating heritage. The journey from Katunayake Airport will take about six hours, traffic permitting. You may also consider taking the Air Taxi which lands in Dickwella, just 20 minutes drive from the villa.

Accommodation
The Colony has four elegantly-furnished a/c bedrooms each with its own designer theme and spacious ensuite bathrooms. The rooms also have overhead ceiling fans for those preferring a more natural atmosphere.

Malacca Suite: A sensuously decorated room with black, red, and gold embroidered fabrics, a comfortable four-poster bed and an adjoining black and white 1920’s style designer bathroom.

Mandalay Suite: Furnished with a king-size satinwood four poster bed.

Pondicherry Suite: Decorated in cream and coral; has twin four-poster beds and stylish ensuite `art deco’ bathroom.

Zanzibar Suite: Although the smallest double room, is light and airy situated off the verandah overlooking the sea. This suite is furnished with a queen-sized comfortable bed and has a spacious ensuite bathroom.

Facilities
The Colony’s living and dining areas are cozy and informal. The terrace has spectacular sea views. An infinity swimming pool has wonderful views across the bay. Western and Eastern meals are prepared with fresh market produce. There is a well stocked bar and any one passing through must try the famous house cocktail, the Colony Arrack Sour.
