food and its quality is a key aspect of ‘The Ibis – Wilpattu’ and they assume will be yours as well. their meals are made with local produce, sourced pre-dominantly from the surrounding home gardens, farms and lakes and cooked to traditional Sri Lankan village recipes by their Chef who is from the area BUT they have ensured the cook knows how to make a few ‘can’t do without’ western dishes as well !
Named after the ‘IBIS’ a bird species from the stork family Threskiornithidae , who were venerated as a God in some cultures and as being responsible for time, the moon and magic, in some other cultures as the sign of fertility which characteristics do justice to the magical and idyllic setting for The Ibis – Wilpattu. This along with the two species of Ibis found on the lake which the property overlooks, was the inspiration for the name of this two bed roomed private‘Villa’ styled property.
Consists of a long comfortable settee which allows you to sit back and get a ‘well earned rest’ after a long journey or a satisfying safari with a cool chilled glass of your favorite brew, while enjoying the sun reflect off the waters in front of you!
It also has a few mats weaved locally using reeds with large cushions to allow a quick moment of shut eye, meditation or a bit of quality time and friendly competition with your loved ones on one of our various board games.
