Colombo City Tour
Colombo being the commercial capital of the country boasts of well developed infrastructure and plenty of things to see and do. There’s the Galle Face Green, a large recreational area overlooking the Indian Ocean, the Museum, the Viharamahadevi Park, the Zoological Gardens, Independence Square, the busy bazaar in Pettah, cultural monuments, Buddhist temples, shopping malls and much more. Colombo also plays host to appealing nightlife and entertainment that promises an exciting end to an interesting day in the city.
Boat Ride on Hamilton Canal
The newly renovated Hamilton Canal also known as the Dutch Canal is waiting to be experienced. Take a scenic boat ride as it goes past the local fishing villages and watch the people getting about their daily chores. The boat ride will take you all the way to the Muthurajawela Marshes through the Negombo Lagoon. A ride in the opposite direction will enable visitors to visit the Kelaniya temple with its remarkable architecture and murals. Situated 130km from the Bandaranaike International airport, Kalpitiya is famed for its beautiful beach and the sighting of large pods of dolphins; the more common ones being the Bottlenose and Humpbacks seen between November and March each year. A boat trip will also enable visitors to catch a glimpse of Sperm Whales and the occasional Blue Whales best seen during November to December and again from March to April. Adding more significance to the Kalpitiya beach is the beautiful coral reef which is home to a wide variety of sea creatures and is a snorkeler’s paradise. Visitors can also visit the beautiful Kalpitiya lagoon which is home to many islands and mangroves with its large population of endemic and migratory birds.
